A rate is a starting value, not a lock. If the government moves it, you change it yourself in Settings → Currency & Tax the same day — you do not need a new version of the software. Individual products can carry their own rate, or be marked exempt.
Account customers — the part every shop gets wrong
Most shops in the USA keep account customers in a register, and the register is always a week behind the shop. Busnipy POS keeps it against the customer instead: every credit sale posts to their balance as it is billed, part-payments come off it, and the list is correct at closing time without anybody adding a column of figures.
The recovery screen sorts by how long money has been owed rather than by how much, because the oldest debt is the one that turns into a loss. Reminders go out over SMS and email with the balance already in the message, and every one of them is recorded against the customer — so the next person to ask knows what was already asked.

How does it handle US sales tax?
Tax is added at the register rather than included in the shelf price, and you set the rate for your own state, county and city. Individual products can carry their own rate or be marked exempt, which covers the categories states treat differently.
Does it calculate rates by address automatically?
No. Busnipy applies the rate you set, with per-product overrides — it does not look up destination-based rates for you. For a single-location store that is exactly right; if you ship across state lines, talk to us first.
Does it need internet?
No. The database and the register run on your own PC.
Can I run several registers?
Yes — one PC as the server and unlimited registers as clients, discovered on the network automatically.
Is it a subscription?
Only if you want it to be. Rent it by the year or pay once and keep it — either way it is licensed per store, on your own hardware, with your data on your own disk.
